Home Visitor

The Role

A Home Visitor visits the homes of potential animal adopters, to ensure that the specific needs of each individual animal are met. Post adoption telephone calls will then be undertaken around 6 months after adoption.

  • Being familiar with the re-homing policies and practices. These will be provided.
  • Making contact with potential adopters.
  • Carry out the home visit and complete the home visit form provided by the shelter.
  • Working with fellow volunteers and staff as appropriate.

Skills

You must be able to communicate effectively with people and accurate completion of documents is essential. A friendly, confident approach is also desirable as is experience of having worked with animals or owning them.

Hours

You can commit as much or as little time as you like but be prepared for unsocial hours such as weekends and evenings when potential adopters are most likely to be at home.

Who

This is a great role for those who enjoy meeting new people but are unable to commit to regular hours.
